چکیده

16 Agro-hydrological models are considered an economic and simple tool to quantify crop water 17 requirements. In the last two decades, agro-hydrological physically based models have been 18 developed to simulate mass and energy exchange processes in the soil-plant-atmosphere 19 system. Although very reliable, due to the high number of required variables, simplified 20 models have been proposed to quantify crop water consumes. 21 The main aim of the paper is to propose an amendment of FAO-56 spreadsheet program in 22 order to introduce a more realistic shape of the stress function, valid for mature olive orchards 23 (Olea europaea L.). The modified model is successively validated by means of the 24 comparison between measured and simulated soil water contents and actual transpiration 25 fluxes. These outputs are finally compared with those obtained with the original version of the 26 model. 27 Experiments also allowed assessing the ability of simulated crop water stress coefficients to 28 explain the actual water stress conditions evaluated on the basis of measured relative 29 transpirations and midday stem water potentials. 30 The results show that the modified model significantly improves the estimation of actual crop 31 transpiration fluxes and soil water contents under soil water deficit conditions, according to 32 the RMSEs associated to the revised model, resulting significantly higher than the 33 corresponding values obtained with the original version. 34

Determination of optimal and and water allocation under limited water resources using soil water balance in Ordibehesht canal of Doroodzan water district

ABSTRACT- Inadequate water supply is the major problem for agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions. Thus, effective management should be considered for water resources planning. In this research, a model was provided which is able to estimate optimal land and water allocation in the Doroodzan irrigation network. Optimal water management model was used at farm level to evaluate different defic...

FAO-56 Dual Crop Coefficient Method for Estimating Evaporation from Soil and Application Extensions

Crop coefficient curves provide simple, reproducible means to estimate crop evapotranspiration (ET) from weather-based reference ET values. The dual crop coefficient sKcd method of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United States (FAO) Irrigation and Drainage Paper No. 56 (FAO-56) is intended to improve daily simulation of crop ET by considering separately the contribution of evapora...

Using the dual approach of FAO - 56 for partitioning ET into soil and plant 1 components for olive orchards in a semi - arid region

24 The main goal of this research was to evaluate the potential of the dual approach of 25 FAO-56 for estimating actual crop evapotranspiration (AET) and its components (crop 26 transpiration and soil evaporation) of an olive (Olea europaea L.) orchard in the semi arid 27 region of Tensift-basin (central of Morocco). Two years (2003 and 2004) of continuous 28 measurements of AET with the eddy c...

Response of different species of Brassica to water deficit

Development of drought-tolerant cultivars is hampered by a lack of effective selectioncriteria. In this research, response of 36 genotypes of rapeseed from seven species of Brassicaincluding B. napus, B. rapa, B. juncea, B. carinata, B. oleracea, B. nigra and B. fruticulosa wasassessed under three moisture levels (no stress, mild stress and intense stress) in the field during2011-2012. Five dro...

Evaluation of Drought Tolerance in Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Under Water Deficit Stress Conditions

Drought is a threaded factor in the world production and application of breeding methods could improve the tolerant and adapted cultivators under drought stress condition. In order to evaluate and determine the stress tolerance indices and identifion of tolerant genotypes to drought stress, 15 safflower genotypes were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with three replications in tw...
